Analytical Role of System Integration

Ensures analysis of IT in terms of the following:

• defined concept
• functionality
• infrastructure
• efficiency
• used technologies
• data model
• adherence to - security standards and other criteria

Conclusions arising from the analysis are used as basic data for further activities and steps taken within the process.

Strategic and Conceptual Roles of System Integration

This involves creation of IT development concepts in order to ensure efficient and purposeful development of the whole area for the benefits of the organization and users in compliance with valid legislation, standards and security requirements.

Organizational Role of System Integration

This involves a set of organizational precautions and measures that need to be taken in order to enable the achievement of the planned objectives in IT. The system integrator follows the selected methodology to ensure a conflict-free and smooth development and operation of the information system of the organization while informing all involved parties regularly of the progress achieved.

Within this role, the system integrator coordinates the forces of the organization with those of the suppliers within individual parts of the IS. For this purpose, the integrator ensures bilateral communication and all other functions of a “project office”.

Development Role of System Integration

• Integratesd development capacities of the suppliers of individual parts of the organization’s IS
• Coordinates relations between individual development capacities
• Ensures the tests of development outputs
• This role also involves responsibility for the developed SW (including related guarantee) and remedy of found discrepancies.

Operating Role of System Integration

• Deployment of individual IS parts into life operation
• Preparation of users for the use of the system
• Ensure availability of input data and output information for specified users
• Failure-free operation in compliance with operating documentation for the whole life of the system

This role also involves updates of emergency plans and handling of emergency situations in compliance with relevant documentation, prevention of and system recovery after such situations.   

System integrator takes over responsibility and risks related to the integration of a new functionality into the client’s information system within the agreed period of time and budget.
